The Scuba Madness Second Annual
Underwater Monopoly Fundraiser
April 17, 1999
- Our diving community raised $5300.00.
This money was distributed to four local charities; The American Red Cross,
The Florence Family YMCA, The Hartsville YMCA Deserving Kids Fund. and The
Florence Humane Society. We also contributed to two dive related
charities; Divers Alert Network and PADI Project Aware. Six teams
participated. Teams were responsible for a playing piece, a team name
and to pick which charity they would be playing for. The winning teams
charity received 25%. All other charities received 15%. There
were no losers, but only one winner. The winning team this year was
"The Doggie Divers", Captained by Mrs. Laurie Goudes. This
team was playing for The Florence Humane Society. The Society received
a "much needed" $1300.00 check.
- We raised money by selling spots on the 10' X
10' Monopoly board. The larger donators received the larger more visible
spots. Any contributor above $150 received their name on a
T-Shirt. These T-Shirts were distributed to all volunteers (divers and
non-divers) who participated. We had around 75 volunteers. We
also raised funds by having a silent auction and kiddie games. Teams
were responsible for raising $150 ($25 per player) to cover expenses.
- You can help by visiting our sponsors seen on
the board above. Special thanks goes out to our highest donators; Ben
Matthews Law Firm, Gowen Goudes Chevrolet, Mix 102.1 and Efird Pontiac Buick
and Jeep. Ben Matthews Law Firm has been our highest sponsor for two
years running.
